SVD priestly and diaconate ordination 2026

Most Rev Bishop John Kwamevi Cudjoe, SVD has reminded catholic priests to remain faithful to the true vine, live in fraternal communities, study theology religiously, serve the poor and maintain their spiritual direction.

These he noted, are pillars that must guide them to shepherd the lord's flocks.

Bishop Cudjoe SVD gave the reminder during SVD Priestly and Diaconate Ordination 2026 held at Asutuare in the Archdiocese of Accra where four deacons were ordained to the priesthood and one seminarian ordained to the diaconate.

He explained that as priests they serve as a bridge between God and humanity and as such they must lead a holy life in order not to lead the flocks astray.

Bishop Cudjoe SVD urged catholic priests to be committed to their vocation and not to combine it with their personal businesses, a practice he observed is growing among some priests.

He encouraged them not to engage in acts that have the tendency to dishonour the church and cause disengagement of the church members but rather, they should pray religiously to sustain the grace imparted on them through their ordination.

The newly ordained priests are Rev Fr. Gregory Godwin Agama-Dotse SVD, Rev Fr John Effah, SVD, Rev Fr Paul Nsoh Akolgo SVD and Rev Fr Peter Ametepey Tetteh, SVD.

Also, Rev Clarence Doloo SVD was ordained to the diaconate.

The church members were asked to continue to pray for the newly ordained priests as they begin their vocation.
