Suhum PRESEC students encouraged to take a stand against corruption

Students of Suhum Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC) in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region have been sensitized on the dangers of corruption and the role they can play in promoting a culture of accountability and integrity.

The initiative was undertaken by the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) in partnership with the K.A. Edu-Media Foundation, a civil society organisation (CSO) that promotes civic awareness, accountability and responsible citizenship.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the students to examine how corrupt practices affect individuals, institutions and the wider society.

They were urged to make ethical conduct part of their daily lives and to resist situations that could encourage dishonesty, abuse of power or other forms of corruption.

The students were also encouraged to speak out against wrongdoing and use appropriate channels to report suspected acts of corruption rather than remain silent.

The campaign highlighted values such as honesty, fairness, responsibility and transparency as essential to developing responsible citizens and strengthening good governance .

Through discussions and practical illustrations, the students explored some of the ways corruption can manifest in everyday situations and considered appropriate responses when confronted with such circumstances.

The interactive session also gave them the opportunity to ask questions and share their views on corruption and its consequences.

The organisers said engaging young people on anti-corruption issues is essential to nurturing a generation that values integrity and is prepared to contribute to a more accountable society.
