Residents of Apenkwa appeal to New Juabeng South municipal assembly to repair a damaged bridge in the area

Residents of Apenkwa, a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern Region, have renewed their appeal to the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly, NJSMA to as a matter of urgency, repair a broken bridge in the area after their earlier appeals did not receive the needed attention. 

According to the members of the community, this is after a visit by the member of parliament, for the area Okyere Baafi, and officials from the assembly to where the bridge is located, after a portion had broken down.

They say, the bridge which connects Adwenepa and Apenkwa bus stop collapsed about three months ago, making transportation difficult and dangerous. 

This they say, worsen the situation when it rains as the floodwaters inundate the bridge. They added that they have to carry pupils to cross the bridge.  

They expressed concern that the expanding erosion will collapse the entire bridge and cut off the two communities if nothing urgent is done about the situation. 

They say the broken part of the bridge has been fenced with wood to prevent accidents and children from drowning into the river.
