REGSEC close down Okuapeman and Mount Sinai Senior High Schools.

The Eastern Regional Security Council, REGSEC, has closed down Okuapeman and Mount Sinai Senior High Schools following violent reprisal clashes.

Six students from Okuapeman SHS were injured and hospitalized, four have been treated and discharged while two remain on admission. 

Several structures were vandalized, including a Visual Arts studio, a teachers' office, and seven classrooms at Okuapeman SHS, which also led to the loss of examination papers and certificates. 

Police officers deployed to restore order faced attacks and stone-pelting from individuals, drawing concern from the Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Owusu-Bempah.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey strongly condemned the violent clashes and described the destruction of school properties and the disruption of academic activities as unacceptable. 

He emphasized that violence has absolutely no place in Ghana's educational system.

She made it clear, that the regional administration is deeply displeased with the incident.

Students have been asked to go home to pave way for investigations.
