OBOSS students urged to reject corrupt practices

Students of Oti Boateng Senior High School (OBOSS) in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, have been sensitized on the need to uphold integrity, honesty and accountability in the fight against corruption.

The sensitization programme was organized by the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) in collaboration with the K.A. Edu-Media Foundation, a civil society organisation (CSO).

The exercise formed part of activities to mark the 2026 African Anti-Corruption Day celebration.

It was aimed at educating the students on the negative effects of corruption on national development and equipping them with the knowledge and values needed to reject corrupt practices.

The students were encouraged to become ambassadors in the fight against corruption by applying the three Rs, refuse, reject and report, when confronted with corrupt practices.

The programme also emphasized the importance of integrity, transparency and accountability as essential values for promoting good governance and national development.

The programme director of the K.A. Edu-Media Foundation, Nana Yaw Akuamoah, led the sensitization session. He explained the meaning of corruption and its negative impact on society and national development.

He also highlighted the important role young people can play in preventing corruption and encouraged the students to speak up and report wrongdoing rather than becoming involved in corrupt practices.

The session was interactive, with students given the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification on issues relating to corruption.

Practical examples and demonstrations were used to help the students understand how corruption can occur in their everyday lives and how they can respond to it.

The organisers said equipping young people with knowledge about corruption and encouraging them to uphold honesty and integrity will contribute to building a society that rejects corrupt practices.
