NPP ready to recapture power from NDC- deputy regional secretary

The Deputy Eastern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Felix Osafo Marfo, has expressed confidence that the NPP will win the 2028 general elections.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 2026 Conference of the Eastern Regional Branch of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association, GNTDA, in Koforidua, Mr. Osafo Marfo observed that peaceful internal elections at all levels, coupled with unity and a successful reorganisation process, indicate that the NPP is prepared to recapture power from the governing National Democratic Congress, NDC.

He expressed optimism about the party’s new crop of leaders, describing them as disciplined and resourceful, with considerable experience in Ghanaian politics.

Mr. Osafo Marfo highlighted what he described as unfulfilled promises made by the NDC.

"They promised to increase the price of a bag of cocoa from GHS 3000 to GhS 6000. Today a bag of cocoa is hovering around GHS2, 650. " They have reduced the price we left. Mr.  Osafo-Marfo added " Today the NDC government has scrapped out of coverage allowance given to teachers who accept postings to remote areas. As I  speak with you teachers have embarked on a strike action. This shows the NDC has scammed us." He further said, " In opposition, they condemned us, saying  we had increased fuel prices. Today fuel prices have risen from GhS 15 per a litre to GhS 16. 64 per a litre. The NDC is not a party that can develop Ghana. Their intention is to create, loot and share"

Mr.  Marfo noted that the decision to hold the party’s regional executive elections in Asamankese was intended to revive the party’s support base in Asamankese, Akwatia and Adeiso as part of efforts to recapture those seats in 2028.
