NDC retains Selassie Amuzu as New Juaben South chairman
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the New Juaben South Constituency of the Eastern Region has retained Selassie Amuzu as its chairman following the party’s constituency elections.
Mr. Amuzu polled 738 of the 1,626 total votes cast to defeat three other contenders. His closest challenger, Charles Boakye, obtained 663 votes.
A total of 1,719 delegates qualified to participate in the elections, which saw seventy seven aspirants contesting various positions to lead the party in the constituency for the next four years.

Speaking to the media after his victory, Mr. Amuzu expressed gratitude to the delegates for renewing their confidence in him, describing the outcome as a demonstration of their appreciation for hard work, integrity and commitment.
He said the outcome of the election has strengthened his resolve to unite the party despite the disagreements and tensions that characterised the contest.

Mr. Amuzu pledged to pursue reconciliation among party members, drawing on his previous experience after winning the chairmanship four years ago.
“My prayer and my vision is to get a Member of Parliament on a ticket of NDC in New Juaben South. It is the NDC that has won power, not an individual,” he said.

He added that he will bring all factions on board to promote unity and advance the party’s fortunes in the constituency.
Other elected executives include Gideon Akomeah as vice-chairman, Foster Hodzie as secretary, Seidu Konate Shaibu as communications officer, Raymond Foli as organiser, Clara Annor Dompreh as women organiser, and Dennis Mensah Akorli as youth organiser.
