National Youth Authority and partners dialogue

The National Youth Authority, together with STAR-Ghana Foundation and other partners, have held an inception meeting for the Kofkro Cost Extension Phase in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital. The project sought to build on the achievements and lessons from the first phase of the Action for Youth Development project which was implemented between 2023 and 2025. 

According to the Head of Partnership and Resource Mobilisation of STAR-GHANA Foundation, Joan Vivian Koomson, the project seeks to consolidate the gains while piloting approaches that can contribute to sustainable opportunities for young people. 

She disclosed that prior to the commencement of the project in 2023, a survey revealed that young people had been disengaged from developmental issues because they were not invited for deliberations. 

She said, the focus therefore was to change the status quo to benefit the youth on matters of interest. 

"The project focus was to bring young people to the table, build their capacity and give them voice and agency and to engage with the Municipal Assembly which is the local authority mandated to drive development in the municipality. So the essence of the project which started three years ago was to take in consideration the needs of young people and ensure that they are prioritized. " She stated. She added, " now that the three-year phase ended in December 2025,  and in anticipation of the second phase we are using one year period to review what was achieved over the last three years and then to look at what other areas we can go into. And specifically, for the outcomes of the last three years we want to see which ones that we can build on"

She urged the private sector to get on board for the benefit of all.

There were presentations on the phase's rationale, strategic priorities, approach, expected results and implementation focus.
