Koforidua-Effiduasehene, Nana Okoawia Dwomo Baabu laid to rest.

It was a sad moment at Koforidua- Effiduase yesterday where families, friends, traditional leaders, clergy and politicians including the former Vice President, Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia gathered to bid royal farewell to the late Nifahene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Nana Okoawia Dwomo Baabu who doubles as the Effiduasehene.  

He was laid to rest late yesterday night according to the tradition and customs of the Ashantis

The late Okwoawia Dwomo Baabu known in private life as Opanyin Kwasi Dwomo Donkor, was born on 25th August 1935. 

He was the third born of Opanyin Kwame Antoh and Obaapanyin Abena Tameah both of blessed memory. 

He started his primary education at the Effiduase Methodist School in 1943 and pursued his secondary education at Ghana Senior High School. 

He continued with his tertiary education at the then Kwame Nkrumah Cooperative College in Accra and obtained proficiency certificate in preliminary book keeping and later obtained degree in accounting through foreign correspondence courses.

He worked at the Ministry of Agriculture, COCOBOD, Audit Service, among others. On the 26th day of July 2010, he was enstooled as the Effiduasehene.

Upon ascension of the throne, Okwoawia Dwomo Baabu set up and inaugurated the Effiduase Development Organization, EDO, a body made up of seasoned and distinguished citizens of Effiduase who had excelled in their various fields of endeavours in the civil and public service.

He also refurbished the current palace to a befitting status and installed some of his sub chiefs under his jurisdiction. 

The Former Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah, described the late Effiduasehene as a man of principle whose leadership role brought peace in Effiduase.  

He urged his successor to follow his tenets to ensure peace and development in the area.
