Ghana records 1.4 million tourist arrivals in 2025-GTA
The Human Resources Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, GTA, Dinah Adu-Owusu has , disclosed, that Ghana recorded one point four million international tourists arrivals in 2025 which represent one point four percent increase over one point three international tourists arrivals the country recorded in 2024. This generated an estimated four point three billion US dollars in international tourism receipts. This she said, reaffirms tourism's significant contribution to national development and foreign exchange earnings.
She also revealed that domestic tourism recorded over one point 79 million visits to fifty-five tourist sites across the country in 2025, indicating growing interest among Ghanaians in exploring and experiencing the richness, diversity and the beauty of the country. Madam Adu-Owusu made this known at the 2026 Eastern Regional Tourism Awards night held in Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region.
Held under the theme 'Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders; The Black Star Experience ' the 2026 Eastern Regional Tourism Awards was attended by staff of the Ghana Tourism Authority GTA, Tourism Society of Ghana TSG, the various hospitality industries in the Eastern Region and security services.

It is an annual event organized by the GTA to recognize and celebrate measurable success, dedication, innovation, leadership, commitment to delivering tourism experience, and the vibrant tourism and hospitality industry in the Eastern Region.
The Human Resources Director GTA, Dinah Adu-Owusu urged industry players to leverage technology and innovation, invest in skills and human capital to improve their service delivery.

She noted that the industry’s productive capacity is equally expanding with the number of licensed enterprises rising from six thousand 702 to seven thousand 109 in 2025 representing six point one percent growth.
Mrs Adu-Owusu urged the businesses in the tourism and hospitality industry to complement the growth with quality, professionalism, innovation, safety and excellent customer service.
The Eastern Regional Director of the GTA, Jones Aruna Nelson noted that this year's theme is not merely a slogan but rather shows their determination and future direction.
He called the Eastern Region the masterpiece of nature.
The event culminated with some hoteliers, professionals, hotels, restaurants and pubs receiving awards for their quality services and dedication to work.
