Eastern music growth depends on a shared commitment -Jass

An up-and-coming artist in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, Abdul Jelil Sariga, popularly known in the music industry as Jass, says the growth of the Eastern Region’s music industry depends on a shared commitment among industry players. He said the slow growth of the Eastern music industry has discouraged many creatives in the region, particularly artistes . 

Abdul Jelil Sariga explained that producers, sound engineers, editors, dancers and video directors all contribute significantly to music production and therefore have a common duty to foster the growth of the Eastern music industry.

Speaking on GBC Sunrise FM as part of campaigns to promote his new EP, titled "Desires", the artiste called on event organizers to organize more shows in the region as part of efforts to promote Eastern music. 

He expressed optimism that artistes in the region can reach the highest levels of the music industry despite the challenges confronting them and encouraged them not to relent in their efforts.

Jass noted that the Eastern Region has many talented artistes who need support to gain national and international recognition. 

He also advised local artistes to look up to established national stars for inspiration.

"I have observed that here in Koforidua we the artists have conceded that we have not reached top level and it has affected our efforts. However, we need to appreciate that we are making gradual progress" he said. He added that" we need to admit that there are big artists in the industry that we have to learn from. Even most of our top stars learn from stars from the USA."

The new EP contains four songs: My Daya, Afa, Odo and Lovely, and is available on all major music streaming platforms.
