Brodiemu and Bebianeha residents appeal for a bridge over the river Densu

Residents of two deprived communities in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern , Brodiemu and Bebianeha have appealed to the government to construct a bridge over the Densu River to facilitate transportation from and to Koforidua.

According to the residents the lack of bridge over the river makes it difficult for them to transport their farm produce and other goods by vehicle adding that during downpour floodwaters submerge the only footbridge constructed by the Ghana Water Limited, GWL making pupils in the area unable to cross the river to their schools.

The situation they say also makes other community members unable to go about their everyday activities.

The aggrieved residents noted that politicians have made several promises to construct the bridge but have failed to fulfil their promises, as a result they have decided to boycott future elections should their conditions remain same.

They say due to the lack of a bridge over the Densu River they carry patients to cross the bridge before they can board transport to Koforidua for healthcare, pleading on the Suhum Municipal Assembly to build a Community based Health Planning Services, CHPS compound in the area to alleviate their plight.

The two communities went on to say that illegal mining activities have polluted the Densu River which is the only water body they rely on for domestic use urging the government to intensify its crackdown efforts on galamsey.
