Antoine Semenyo named in PFA premier league team of the year

Manchester City forward and Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has been named in the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Premier League Team of the Year for the 2025/26 season.

The team was announced at the 2026 PFA Awards in Manchester yesterday, with Semenyo becoming the first Ghanaian footballer ever to be named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

The 26-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign, beginning the season at Bournemouth before moving to Manchester City in the January transfer window for £65 million.

The transfer made him the most expensive sale in Bournemouth's history, surpassing the club's previous record.

Semenyo scored 10 goals and provided three assists in the Premier League for Bournemouth before his move to Manchester City. 

He continued his impressive form at Manchester City, scoring seven league goals and providing one assist, taking his season's Premier League tally to 17 goals and four assists.

The PFA Premier League Team of the Year is selected by fellow professional players.

The 2025/2026 team features five players from Premier League champions Arsenal, namely, goalkeeper David Raya, defenders Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and Jurrien Timber, and midfielder Declan Rice.

Manchester City's Nico O'Reilly completes the defence, while Rayan Cherki and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes join Declan Rice in midfield.

The attack comprises Brentford's Igor Thiago and Manchester City duo Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland.
