Actor and Comedian Kwame Dzokoto dies at 51
Ghanaian actor, comedian and broadcaster Seth Kwame Dzokoto has died after collapsing during a live radio discussion.
He collapsed in the early hours of Thursday, October 22, 2026, while appearing as a panellist on the morning show of Owass FM / Owass Radio in Tarkwa in the Western Region.
According to reports, he was rushed to a hospital in Tarkwa where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His death was confirmed by Western Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kirk Mensah, who said: “Our comrade Kwame Dzokoto of the Efiewura and Edziban fame on a panel discussion on Owass Radio in Tarkwa collapsed and pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.”
In a livestream of the show available on Owass FM’s Facebook page, the actor in the latter part of the stream seemed to be struggling for breath as he handed over a bottle of water to another guest before the camera went shaky and the broadcast was cut off.
Dzokoto became a household name for his role as Judge Koboo in the popular TV series _Efiewura_ and as host of TV3’s food and tourism programme _Edziban_, which explored Ghanaian cuisine. He also featured in _Osumesi_ and worked as a radio presenter with Skyy Power FM in Takoradi and Hello FM in Kumasi.
Beyond entertainment, he was a politician. He contested the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NDC in the 2016 general elections. In September 2026, Dzokoto had publicly dismissed rumours of his death after concerns about his health.
Speaking on B.E. TV, he said “I’m not dead,” explaining he was battling high blood pressure and diabetes and had undergone surgery outside the country with support from businessman Ibrahim Mahama. At the time of his death, he was 51 years old. Further details, including official confirmation from family and burial arrangements, are yet to be announced.
