A native of Nkurakan donates free student mattresses to newly admitted SHS students from Yilo Krobo.

A native of Nkurakan in the Yilo Krobo Municipality, Henry Odoom Nyumuah and his wife Diana Odoom in their series of annual educational support initiative has distributed free student mattresses to some selected newly admitted students into the Senior High Schools from three basic schools namely Akatebour Salvation Army JHS, Wawase R/C JHS and Nkurakan M/A JHS within the Yilo Krobo municipality.

The donations arrive at a critical time when parents face financial pressure from the lengthy prospectus lists required for boarding school admissions.

For many parents, purchasing secondary school items can cost thousands of Ghana Cedis, creating a severe bottleneck for brilliant but needy students.

According to him, his intervention is explicitly structured to ensure that financial constraints do not lead to school dropouts.

He said the donation forms part of his corporate social responsibility to give back to society.

Mr. Odoom Nyumuah urged the beneficiaries to study hard to make their parents proud.

Call for Community Support and Educational Reforms

The General Secretary of Krobo Danish Association, KROBODAN, Joshua Nyumuah commended his nephew for the gesture and urged other natives in the area to do same to help develop the Krobo area.

He however added his voice to the glowing concerns such as corruption and inadequate infrastructure development surrounding the country’s educational system and called on stakeholders to come together to address such concerns.

Beneficiaries Express Gratitude

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the donor  adding that it will go a long way to lessen burden on their parents.
